Whether digital or manual, Anahita explores cutting, ripping and assembling photos, mylar and colored paper to brainstorm larger paintings. This process is key in the development of her ideas for paintings or sometimes they will directly turn into a painting on its own.

Bell-shaped flowers, cut from oxidized copper: one panel of a lattice. Blot. Blot. Blot. Blot. The lattice inverts and repeats. Then repeats again.

Swooping curves meet at sharp corners: swallows gliding or leaves falling. Sky blue, overlapping cloud white, casting shadows onto earthy brown. A rippling frame of masking tape seeks to contain the pattern’s movement, and is instead seduced by it.

Recombinant memories: a trio of sculpted women have come to rest beneath the dappled light reflected by the archway, like a rocky outcropping under a Mediterranean sun. The figures bear traces of their digital relocation—rope barriers appear to pass through their massive bodies, before fading against the intricately carved walls.

A photographic blueprint for paradise: vaulted brickwork repeats, repeats, repeats, repeats, establishing a rhythmic pull toward a horizon of infinite depth, or perhaps infinite shallowness. The horizon spills forward, gently consuming the bottoms of the arches, feeding the encroachment of the garden. The spiked petioles of a monumental flower gaze upward; it’s colours are reflected in the brick, affirming the welcomeness of its incursion.
